1359  Jaroslaw Bogoria from Skotniki visited the Prince Ziemowit III wooden mansion house in Skierniewice.  At that period of time Skierniewice is first mentioned by name in the prince`s privilege.

1457  The Primate John Odrowąż from Sprowa enfranchises municipal rights to Skierniewice.

1463  King KasimirJagiellończyk confirms the institution of the town based on privileges during a session of the Lower House in Piotrków City.

1609-1617  The construction of the Renaissance brick palace is build by Archbishop W. Baranowski.

1655-1657  The town and its palace are destroyed by invading Swedes during 'The Deluge'.

1st half of the XVIII century  Town prosperity under the archbishops` government, who based in Skierniewice governed the whole country in the interregnum time (containing such eminents as Theodore Potocki and Christopher Szembek).
1781-1782  Construction of St. Jakob's church funded by Archbishop Anthony Ostrowski.

1786  Archbishop Michael Poniatowski establishes a textile workshop in the town.

1795  The palace becomes the residence for the last primate - Ignatius Krasicki.

1807  Skierniewice in the possession of the French Prince Marshal- Louis Davout.

1829 Tsar of Russia Nicolas I devolves the palace and chattels of Skierniewice to Prince Constantine “The Great” 

1845  Opening of the railway iron line Warsaw to Vienna and construction of the Tsar`s railway station in Moorish style, which is no longer existing.
1867 The town receives county status.

1870  Tsar Alexander II  devolves the chattels of Skierniewice to Prince Bariatyński.

1875 Construction of the railway station Warsaw to Vienna line, which still exists today.
1884  Convention in Skierniewice of the three emperors of the occupying countries:  Alexander III, Wilhelm I and Francis Joseph I.

1915  During World War I, in the neighborhood of Skierniewice the poison gas phosgene is used for the first time.
1915-1918  Time of the German occupation of Skierniewice.

1918  Declaration of independence.

1919  Skierniewice grange is donated to the Warsaw University of Life and Sciences - SGGW for scientific purposes.  

1927  Institution of the regional council house (sejmik).

1939  World War II, German occupation forces exterminate 4 thousand Jewish inhabitants of the town.

1940 Construction of a Jewish ghetto in Skierniewice.

1945  World War II ends and Skierniewice is liberated.

1951 Foundation of the Institute of Pomology.

1964 Foundation of the Institute of Vegetable Crops.

1975-1998    Skierniewice becomes a provincial capital.    

1999    Skierniewice acquires a county status.
2002 25th Anniversary Festival of Flowers, Fruits and Vegetables in Skierniewice.
2005 Foundation of the State Higher Vocational School.
2007 Celebration of 550thanniversary of granting municipal rights
2009 Celebration of Professor Pieniążek’s year; unveiling the Professor Pieniążek Bench in front of the town hall and the bust in the courtyard of the Research Institute of Pomology and Floriculture.
2010 Inauguration of the Wokulski monument at the Railway Station on 165th Anniversary of the first train arrivial in Skierniewice.
2011 Consolidation of the Research Institute of Pomology and Floriculture and the Research Institute of Vegetable Crops into the Institute of Horticulture.
